Dear Authors: I strongly believe that studies like yours can be valuable, especially because the over-use of simplistic, computer interpolation techniques in recent decades has led to much poorer mapping of groundwater levels, particularly where surface water data/connection could have provided significant improvements to the maps. However, I became somewhat concerned when reading your responses to the reviewers -- it was unclear to me whether you were being sufficiently responsive. Your case in this regard was not helped by your use of the word "rebuttal" rather than "consideration" when characterizing your responses to reviewers' comments. ("Rebuttal" inherently means you are disagreeing with the reviewers' comments.) While this was likely just the mistaken use of the word, it still appeared that you could have been more responsive.
Consequently, I read your latest version of the paper and made a few comments myself concerning the methods. I am including the edits and comments directly in a PDF document that I am uploading here.
