The reviews have provided mixed feedback regarding this paper. Some clearly see merit in the work, but significant misgivings have been raised. Additional hydrologic analysis responding to concerns regarding trends in evapotranspiration and sub-annual rainfall-runoff dynamics would considerably enhance the possibility that a revised paper would be accepted.

Several reviewers have also raised concerns about the statistical significance tests used, given that a large number of simultaneous hypothesis tests were applied - Reviewer 3 has provided some suggestions in this regard that I encourage the authors to consider.

Although one of the reviewers is satisfied with the revisions, the other retains some serious concerns, and makes concrete suggestions for addressing them. I suggest the authors consider conducting the additional work required to do so.
